Ever wonder where yoga teachers go to unwind? Find out firsthand next March at an intimate spa retreat in Southern Thailand with YuMee and Kiko. Tamarind Springs Forest Spa is one of those places we like to speak about in hushed tones, lest it be discovered by the masses. It’s our spa destination of choice in South East Asia; the place where those-in-the-know go to relax, commune with nature and receive some of the very best body work in the world.
Located just steps away from Lamai Beach on the east coast of Koh Samui, and bordering the island’s tropical forest interior, this stunning eco-luxe spa was built with deep love and respect for the island’s unique landscape. Pools and steam caves are nestled between immense granite boulders, yoga and massage pavilions look out over the forest canopy, and villas embody the very best of indoor-outdoor living. With only a handful of architecturally unique villas on offer, this is as boutique an experience as you can get.
Our master plan is simple: introduce a handful of our favourite people to one of our favourite places, add a little yoga and some serious pampering, and sit back to witness the magic. Think of this as an unbuttoned spa retreat with a twice daily dose of yoga and meditation, sound baths, incredible gourmet meals, and lots of spare time to enjoy the simplicity of island life.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many spots are available on this retreat? This is an intimate retreat. We expect a group of between 10-15.
Will you pair me up with a roommate if I choose to travel alone? We will do our best to pair you with someone but we will not put you in a shared bed with anyone. Most of our villas have one large bed so it is best to bring a friend if you hope to share.
How much yoga can I expect to do on this retreat? We will offer two yoga sessions daily. The morning practice will be therapeutic and great for all levels. The afternoon practice will be restorative and will include sound baths. Due to our small class size you can expect lots of personal attention. You may find that you only want to do one class a day due to the fact the retreat includes 5.5 hours of spa treatments.
How far away is the beach? Tranquil Lamai beach is just across the road. You can walk there in minutes. Bustling Chaweng beach is a short cab ride away.
Can you accommodate my special diet? We will do our best to accommodate your dietary preferences. Please be sure to inform us of allergies. You will be served exquisitely prepared, health conscious vegetarian Thai meals at Tamarind Springs twice a day.
How do I get there?
A. The fastest/easiest route is to fly into Bangkok (BKK) and take a flight to Koh Samui (USM) via Bangkok Airways or Thai Airways.
B. The budget conscious and those with a little more time can also fly from Bangkok (DMK) to Surat Thani (URT) via Air Asia or Nok Air and take a high speed catamaran to Koh Samui. Purchase ferry tickets at Surat Thani airport. Price includes shuttle bus to the pier. Please note this option requires you to change airports in Bangkok.
We provide free ground transport to and from the airport or ferry dock. Please send us your travel details as soon as you have them and don’t forget to update us if the airline changes your arrival or departure time. We recommend you purchase your international and domestic airline tickets separately to avoid astronomical prices on North American travel websites.
What travel documents do I need? Please ensure your passport is valid for at least six months after your planned date of departure from Thailand. Holders of regular Canadian passports, arriving by air for the purposes of tourism, may enter Thailand for up to 30 days without requesting a visa in advance.
What currency should I bring? US dollars can be exchanged for Thai Baht at banks and the airport. Bring large bills that are in good condition. Wrinkled bills as hard to change and small bills receive a less favourable rate. ATMs are everywhere and are an easy way to get Thai baht.
Are there bugs? Yes, we will be in the tropics and there will almost certainly be insects. You’ll likely see geckos, frogs, butterflies and other wildlife too. If you shudder at the thought of indoor-outdoor living, ask for a room with air-conditioning. All beds come with mosquito nets.
